Searching for the synchrotron cosmic web again: A replication attempt

InĀ https://doi.org/10.1017/pasa.2022.9, Hodgson et al. (2022) attempted to detect the synchrotron cosmic web and reproduce findings from a previous report by Vernstrom et al. (2021). No such detection was replicated. In the interests of understanding this result, the authors release a number of associated images, files and code.

  1. The 14 fields imaged with the Murchison Widefield Array (Phase II). These 14 fields were used in the principal stacking analysis of this study and are detailed in Table 2 of the paper. For each field we provide the restored and residual images, the weight images used during stacking (FITS format). We also provide the exclusion regions as DS9 region file.
  2. The 4 luminous red galaxy pair catalogues, as described in Table 1. These pairs are listed in the standard NumPy binary format (.npy). Each row of this table: ra1[deg], dec1[deg], z1, ra2 [deg], dec2 [deg], z2
  3. The final stacked images for each of these catalogues (FITS format), as analysed in Figures 8, 9, 10, 11.
  4. The Python code used to stack the LRG pairs, and also the code the model the final stacked images.
